Hook AI Manifesto

We build tools to empower creatives, not to replace them.

Music has always been a human endeavour. AI should widen who can participate and how far ideas can go, without flattening craft, obscuring sources, or handing artists a finished track they didn’t genuinely contribute to during the making process.

Hook’s generative AI strand exists to empower human creativity. Our job is to give people raw material, control, and clarity; not to automate artistry into generic output.

Our beliefs

1. Creativity stays in human hands.
We generate components, such as stems, fragments, and remix building blocks: material that musicians can edit, layer, reject, and reshape. Hook is an instrument. It is the (human) author who still creates.

2. Ethics as architecture, not marketing.
Ethics isn’t a footnote; it’s a foundation we design around from the start. Licensed data is non-negotiable wherever a model could substitute for an artist’s work.

3. Transparency is a product requirement.
Creators and rights holders deserve to understand where AI output comes from. Our proprietary attribution framework traces generated audio back to the training catalog that shaped it. Influence is visible, not assumed.

4. Users drive research.
We don’t train models because benchmarks are trending. Every system we build solves a real problem for those creating, discovering, or remixing music in Hook: from better mashup pairing to personalized creation and discovery to natural-language remix control.

5. Tools for shaping music, not skipping the process.
Several AI music tools optimize for a single outcome: generating a complete song from a prompt. We optimize for controllability: translating creative/user/creator intent into adjustable, structured commands.

6. The AI is not the differentiator; the music is.
AI facilitates doing more with what is already rich and valuable. What matters is catalog depth, musical metadata, preset knowledge, and production workflows wired into how Hook actually works; from song selection to remix orchestration to what gets recommended next.

What we are building

Hook’s AI spans creation, understanding, discovery, trust and safety:

  • Creation: a proprietary generation stack trained on a licensed catalog; built for controllable remix workflows and full-length remix surfaces on the roadmap
  • Understanding: a hybrid layer combining in-house audio representations with generated analysis from partners
  • Discovery: hybrid recommenders that blend content understanding, behavioral sequencing, and diversity from the very first interaction Tied to our audio stack and Studio creation
  • Trust: attribution as a first-class capability: ranked, auditable links between generated output and training sources
  • Safety: in-house models and review workflows that govern what can be published on Hook: e.g. detecting music-like audio in uploads to enforce platform guidelines.

We are NOT building a slop factory. We are building music technology that respects creators, their rights, and the joy of making.

Our commitment

We will:

  • Keep Creatives in control of what AI generates and what they publish
  • Train and partner responsibly in the music generative process, with licensed and ethically sourced data as the default
  • Make provenance legible through attribution, not opacity
  • Ship AI that earns its place in the product: useful, inspectable, and honest about what it is

AI should make music more open, more explorable, and more human, not automated or less accountable.

That is the standard Hook holds itself to.
